What If Jesus Was ALL You Had

I would like us to consider something for a few minutes. Please take a moment to read this. It will not take you long.

Let me begin this way: Say that you had lost everything in this life. You lost your housing, career, family, friends, most food, and health, but you still had Jesus. And say that you genuinely believed that the Apostle Paul was telling the truth when He said, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” And when he also said that if he, himself could “choose,” he would choose to depart and be with Jesus rather than stay here in this world. How would you live differently? What would your focus be?

I ask this because this mindset “unshackles” a Christian from every hindrance seeking to keep them from obedience to the will of God. This mindset is an eternal mindset. It seeks one thing alone, the Kingdom of God. It seeks the presence of God “alone.” This is all true because this individual has NOTHING else to live for, and NOTHING to lose. This individual is free to hear Jesus and to follow Jesus no matter the cost, since again, they have “nothing” to lose. This individual does not fear. They do not fear rejection or death. No matter the threat, this individual will continue to worship God and share the gospel of their “only” hope. They will seek to encourage other Christians to do the will of God too, because they themselves are following freely, without shackles, and they KNOW this is the will of God for His children.

I said I would keep this short, so I’m going to end by asking you to take some time now and mentally put yourself in that situation, and then look back at the year 2020. Tell me if you would have lived differently and if you would have encouraged others to live differently. Also, with this new mindset, how will you move forward from here?

One last thing. The result of “this” perspective puts “Jesus in perspective.” This mindset puts Jesus right where He belongs: On the throne of your heart.
