The other day I wrote a post titled ‘”TRAUMA” Do You Understand…Do You Care?” Now I am writing one to testify to the truth based only on the Word of God and confirmed by the Spirit, pertaining to where to go for “true” wisdom without compromise since the wisdom stemming from the world is foolishness. For the scriptures say…
“God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not —to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him” (1 Cor. 1:27-29, emphasis mine).
“What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit” (1 Cor. 2:12-15, emphasis mine).
I am so thankful for these verses. Do you know what matters most? Truth matters most. This is the very first accusation which Satan brought against God in the Garden of Eden, the question of His integrity; and which brought into doubt God’s goodness and His motives which led to sin affecting the entire human race. Do you need to reread that? It is because truth is the foundation for everything in the Christian life including love. Without truth there is no love. We know that God is true for He cannot lie. Therefore, He is trustworthy. And if we cannot trust that the book we live by (the Holy Bible) is written by God’s divine knowledge, inspired by the Holy Spirit, from Genesis to Revelation, then we will live with doubt. And we will begin to “pick and choose” what we will accept from the Bible as true or authoritative. And this leads to compromise, confusion, disagreement, disorder, disbelief, fear, insecurity, and uncertainty within the Body of Christ and the individual Christian. And this leads to all kinds of problems which are the result of Satanic lies, bringing God’s integrity into question, all stemming from worldly, void of the Spirit, wisdom from man. Now do you see why truth is the foundation for all the rest. And you also know why I have committed my life to testifying to the truth.
So, in my previous post with the beginning title “TRUMA”… I went through and explained my journey of searching for the truth regarding the inerrancy of scripture for fourteen years plus some. And that search was not in vain. However, at the end of it all, in 2017, I burnt everything. Yep, I had a ceremony with my wife and let it all go up in flames. I gave it all to God. Do you want to know why? Not only because it was all man’s wisdom and interpretations. But also, because at the end of it all, no matter the various viewpoints on the scriptures, I was left with the Holy Spirit in me testifying to the truth. Yes, I had faced my fears and doubts, which I needed to do. But at the end of it all, I could not deny that the Word of God, the Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation was the inspired Word of God…no matter what the wisdom of man said. And sometime through all this process I was given (I believe because God knew I needed it) a gift of discernment and the ability to know in the core of my being what is truth and what is error. And when I know it, I cannot keep it in. And that is why I have so many posts about truth:)
We as Christians can carry within us all the wisdom of this world and yet be utterly depraved in mind! True wisdom and understanding only come by the Spirit of the LORD. And unless we are heeding the wisdom of God in the scriptures, and living accordingly by the Spirit, we will lack knowledge and discernment, which we so desperately need in this hour. Just as this verse states, “For everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil” (Heb. 5:13-14). We must remember the wisdom of this age, or of this world, comes from Satan. For the “god of this world” has blinded man. Since “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers,” (2 Cor. 4:4a).
So, though there are great Bible helps out there; much of it is foolishness. And only by the Spirit of truth will we discern truth from error. But remember that as soon as we begin to disagree with what God has placed in His Word; beginning to say, “you know, our times have changed, and that passage must be interpreted according to our times, and not according to other times,” you are in danger of being caught in a foothold of Satan. Because that statement is absolutely false. For God has given us the power to receive and apply His message according to what He has said. And the reason it has not been changed in the past is because God intends it to speak to each generation just as it spoke to the previous one. God’s message and Word do not change just because our culture does!
Jesus is the Word made flesh. And He authenticated the Old Testament (all of it) as being from God while He taught on earth. Then after that something really cool happened, after His resurrection, while on the road to Emmaus with a couple disciples of His, “…Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself”…And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” (Luke 24:27-32, emphasis mine). And it is this exact Holy Spirit which Jesus used to “open/explain” the scriptures to those disciples that He used in the writing and interpreting of the entire New Testament. And this same Holy Spirit He has used through all generations to give power and authority or “backing” to His Word from Genesis to Revelation. And as long as we are “willing to hear” we will hear. For, “Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority” (John 7:16-17). And Psalm 138:2 says, “…for you have exalted above all things your name and your word” (Ps. 138:2b). And before Jesus left earth, He prayed this for us, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17). And finally, Jesus opens His mouth with a two-edged sword saying, “Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God” (John 8:47), speaking to the Pharisees.
Therefore, if you are a child of your Father in heaven, born of the Spirit, sanctified in the truth, joined to Jesus Christ, then you have the Holy Spirit who testifies with your human spirit that God is true so therefore His Word is true; therefore, hold tightly to the scriptures, and anything which seeks to bring into question God’s authority (His Word) is stemming from the foolishness of man and must be rejected.
