"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you." [John 14:15-16]
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." [John 14:26]
I am so grateful for the Holy Spirit. Also known as the “Comforter, the Counselor, the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation, the Spirit of Truth, the Advocate” He is a person, the very presence of the Lord. He is “Holy”. Apart from the Spirit of Truth there can be no true understanding or correct interpretation of the Word of God!
I tell you the truth: there are very many Christian’s who are wrongly interpreting the Word of God. The reason being, they are not humbly submitted to the Holy Spirit in their lives or in their pursuit of truth. There are many “post-modern” Biblical theologians and Bible studies and Bible commentaries which do not accurately interpret the scriptures. The reason being: Cultural pressures, relativism and humanism and yes, feminism!
Therefore, the correct way to understand the Bible is to be living in communion with the Holy Spirit. Pursuing a Holy life and to carefully read the scriptures, understanding them exactly as they were written. By the Holy Spirit. Of course: if you are not “willing” to know the truth and are not “willing” to adjust your life and perspectives according to God’s truth then you will not be able to see it. Therefore, this requires “humility, a willingness to hear God and a love for the Truth.”
Paul says:
"Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual." [1 Corinthians 2:12-13]
