After evil king Ahaz’ idolatry caused God’s wrath to come upon the land and the people a new king took his place. King Hezekiah, who called the Levites (who were the priests) and commanded them to “cleanse the Temple of the LORD” because it had been neglected and filled with idol’s from the nations around them.
Now, as you read the verses below recognize that in the New Testament it is the Church, the people of Christ, who are now considered the “priests and Levites” of the LORD. And so, let us consider this message in light of our present time and situation. For we are the Temple of God. We are God’s house now. We are His Body and we are the representation of Him on earth by the Spirit of Christ in us! So as you read these verses ask the Lord “is there any “high place”, any place an “idol” is still standing in my heart which has not been removed from Your Temple? Ask if you are relying on the god’s of the nations around you, if you are relying on man and his wisdom for your daily direction or are you relying on the Spirit of God within you?
“Hear me, Levites! Now consecrate yourselves, and consecrate the house of the LORD, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filth from the Holy Place”… “My sons, do not now be negligent, for the LORD has chosen you to stand in his presence, to minister to him and to be his ministers and make offerings to him.”… “They gathered their brothers and consecrated themselves and went in as the king had commanded, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD. The priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD to cleanse it, and they brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it and carried it out to the brook Kidron. They began to consecrate on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the vestibule of the LORD. Then for eight days they consecrated the house of the LORD, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished. Then they went in to Hezekiah the king and said, “We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the table for the showbread and all its utensils. All the utensils that King Ahaz discarded in his reign when he was faithless, we have made ready and consecrated, and behold, they are before the altar of the LORD” (2 Ch. 29:5, 11, 15-19)
These are days requiring great discernment because there is great confusion and disorder within the household of God. And there are divided hearts. Those who have one foot in the Kingdom of God, and one planted in the World. If you are one of them then now is the time to make your decision: Is your Temple the Temple of the Holy Spirit, or of another spirit?
But for you, those who KNOW their God, remember, the Lord knows those who’s hearts are completely His. And He will hide you under His shadow and cover you with His wings and provide for your needs. HE IS WITH YOU…as you trust in Him (Psalm 91 promises it)
Blessings upon you! Pls share. Thank you
