Child of God, What Do You Need?…

"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory" (Col. 3:1-4, emphasis mine).

Who are you? More importantly, Who’s are you? That is right, you are Christ’s. And since you are Christ’s, you are not your own. So, who’s responsibility, are you? His. Where do you belong child of God, down here, or up there? Since you are not your own, and since you belong up there, but will not get there until it is time, He has sent His Spirit, the Spirit from up there, down here. So that you may walk with Him like you are up there, while you are down here.

I asked at the beginning, “what do you need child of God?” Exactly. You need to walk with God like you are up there while you are down here. Because no matter our circumstances down here, when we are “walking in the cool of the Garden with God, our Father, hand in hand with Jesus our Savior and Lord,” we find…freedom, hope, peace, joy, contentment, and love. And then we are OKAY! Also, an awesome benefit of walking with God is we gain “perspective” of the things down here. We receive new lenses to see through. THIS is what you need child of God. Are you concerned about your loved ones? Walk with God and you will understand how to be a light to them. Are you struggling with sin, finances, suffering, etc.? Walk with God and you will find deliverance from sin, and financial security, which is God given, and healing in Jesus’ name.

So, how do we walk with God? By faith. Start by reading and meditating on and praying over chapter eleven of Hebrews. That is walking by faith. It is also, fixing your mind on things above, not below. Therefore, begin to live everyday with an “eternal mindset” through a life of intimate, quality prayer, and meditation on the Word of God. Are you too busy for these things? Then those things which stand in the way must be removed. Remember, Who do you belong to? And Who is responsible for your well-being? That is right, your Savior and Lord. Do you need others to come around you and support your new lifestyle of fixing your mind on things above? Then pray and ask them for support.

We are in the last days, right? The last of the last! If there is one thing which is needed most because it is lacking the most. It is that the child of God is to “come out from among them” (2 Cor. 6:17). That is correct. The Lord is literally urging His children to come out from the ideas, the way of living, and the priorities of this world. To “separate” and to “be holy” as unto Christ (2 Peter 3:11). Why? Because you are not of this world child of God. You are born from above and are a citizen of heaven. You are an alien and stranger down here. But thankfully, you have the power and companionship of the Holy Spirit to empower and guide you to walk with God in fellowship and intimacy daily, every step of the way, until he comes for you. For too many years, we have played the games of this world and the Lord is calling us to separate now. This can be difficult. But since it is the will of God, he will strengthen you and reward you in doing so.

Lastly, do not be deceived into believing that to win people to Christ we must join them or be like them. We must offer something to them that this world cannot give them, a Savior from their sins. If they just want Jesus so that their lives down here will “be better or more fulfilling” then we cannot help them. Nor can God. Jesus came to save a people out of this sin infested world. For, [we are to live down here as] children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Phil. 2:15-16). The Light which we have to offer is a light which only those who desire to be separate from sin will willingly receive. If they will not accept Jesus Christ on His own terms, then they do not want the Jesus of scripture.

Therefore, decide to come out from this world today. To fix your mind on things above, where Christ rules with all authority. To walk by faith, and not by sight. To take up your cross and follow Jesus. And just as Jesus denied what this world offered and finally, was rejected by this world. So too, you come out from this world, follow Christ. Though you will be rejected by this world, you will discover deep fellowship with your Father and Lord and be blessed greatly!
